windows system design blows - always has - always will (Windows Sucks)

by msheets_blows, Sunday, January 24, 2010, 18:02

(FYI WE USE LINUX. NEVER CRASHES. NEVER SKIPS. NO BSOD. NO PROBLEM:-D ).

my biggest complaint about msheets is no secret. their os blows. WINDOWS 2000 was the best system they ever built and i liked it. still do. and yet the supreme bozos at msheets kept it around for about a minute and replaced it with the blow-hole system aka XP and its inbred descendents. after that it just got worse. here are the problems as i see them and in my experience....
1. THE CITY DUMP. msheets os swap/pagefile is an inspired design modeled after a big city dump. only a fool would keep that folly around. hey, does that mean msheets is a ship of fools? certainly the execs are on board and going down the river. you'll also hear their cheers and spins as their 'good ship explorer' crashes against scattered rocks of unclaimed freight, flounders about looking for bits and pieces lost in the storm of gigabytes of cache only to be commanded to turn about and go back upstream for more missing luggage tossed overboard when their next program passenger decided to pile on top of the heap.

2. EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE HANGOUT. registration database... now there is yet another inspired design pirated from the christmas tree concept. it was ok at first. it started out as a index thing for fast refs on 2-clicks for filetype. also had some profile info in there. then... it started growing- like the blob that ate NYC. now its a monster bigger than a community of godzillas. in fact- its turned into a beauracracy of its own that has become a management nightmare. it gets better... instead of creating a specialized tree-style reference/manager to a filesystem the actual filesystem is now subordinate to the regdat. msheets has code running from everywhere! prefetch. regdat. c-dir, temp-dir, users-dir, program-files and you-name-it! program files? LMAO! thats useless- its just the warehouse turned starting gate for all the race horseshit on the track.

3. did i forget to mention the overhead required to run anything? get a copy of REGMON and watch the nightmare play out in real time.

4. SYSTEM OF DENIAL. think back to the time when msheets always said "it's not us. not our fault. not our problem. blah blah blah." that is until a courageous lawyer filed a suit against them for having a bad product because of their false implications of security. Suddenly msheets had to start taking some responsibility. up till then msheets had merely put out something handy to store files on. they had remedial products to create some things and left the really good stuff to the large community of professional developers. nice! but then, instead of minding the system for "installation" and "security", they got greedy and decided to step on everyone's toes with their office products while neglecting the install and security aspects most important to any os. and apparently, quality control was not important either. this is the kind of thing that happens to the human os when it gets cancer.

5. BLOATED WHALE. i hereby predict - as i did correctly with vista - that windows 7 will be a SLUG as their system design will require so much power to run anything that all the 'green efforts of the world' will be wiped out on system boots, procedural calls, and the endless wanderings of the explorer process floundering through the regdat and 2GB+ pagefile.

6. need i go on? if you must have an msheets system, find an old copy of windows 2000 and hardware to run it on. or... GO FOR THE PENGUIN.;-)
